  • Floppy Chillis

I am scared, some of my chillis have flopped in the night Would they do that if they got a bit cold?

They had a greenhouse heater last night so I thought they were warm and toasty.

Have you any pics? and were they standing in water perhaps ?
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

No pics now as had to get to work but will take some later. They were looking very dry at the top but the pots had some weight and looking at the bottom the soil still looked wet through the drainage holes. They sat in water on Saturday for 10 mins and have been left in a dry tray since then.

I have an idea now you mention water, Tripmeup. I planted 2 or three seeds per 2 inch pot a while ago and pricked out the spares into similar sized pots a couple of weeks ago. Maybe the wilty ones are spares with less developed root systems that haven't reached the bottom of the pot?

Any answer other than "they got too cold" would be welcome as the greenhouse was also stuffed full of cucumbers, melons and squash who I'm sure will have the Hump (as Kristen was saying on another thread) far more than the chillis if it was too cold.

Got home and they had all perked up. No water given, the only treatment a nice warm day in the greenhouse. So too cold it is.

They are all inside again. 3C forecast tonight in these parts. At least no seedlings are obviously lost. I'll wait for the cucumbers to get the Hump then!
