Default feeding sweetcorn before the cobs come?

what should I feed my sweetcorn? it's only about 2 feet high, no cobs yet, but I feel it could do with a bit of a hand.

thanks.

I'll be interested in the replies as I'm trying corn for the first time and my plants seem to be at the same stage. Roughly 2'-3' high with what appears to be flowers hidden in the growing tip.
Very exciting. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Actually, I don't feed mine. I feed the soil well befor it goes in but then I water and water. Nature (drat her!) has done it for me this year!

My soil, though it has had lots of garden compost added each year, is basically sandy and low in nutrient. I have twelve sweetcorn in a bed, with some beetroot in between, and I am planning to do some top dressing this week - either compost mixed with balanced organic fertiliser or chicken manure pellets. I have to water very regularly too.

i find that sweetcorn loves being planted with french beans- the beans provide the nitrogen that the corn needs- so no need to feed at all. The cobs are always great and you get some green beans as well.

i also give a bit of home made nettle and comfrey feed when watering once a week.

My corn is - well not as high as an elephants eye - but about 2 feet high. Nothing happening but the green growth. Have I any chance of a crop, and is there anything I can do to help it on its way.

Make the elephant stand up Alice! I really think the corn is slow to shoot up because of the weather - and if we could do anything about that we'd be rich! We need a bit of sunshine. It's good for what ails you.

Mine are about 3 feet and the male flower appearing in each of the nine plants (on the big ones), the minimop are only about 2.5 feet high and no sign of the male flower yet. I think the warmth of the tunnel has really helped even though there's been no sunshine.
