    Distance between minipop sweetcorn

    Hi,
    Could somebody please let me know the distance I should leave between my minipop plants, they are about 10cm tall in cell trays at the moment.

    Where there any suggestions on the seed packet? How tall do they get? I grow my sweetcorn about a foot apart but a quick Goggle suggested 18". Not grown this particular variety before.

      I grew mine 6 inches apart and 12 inches between rows last year, and they cropped okay but the weather wasnt great!?!

      This year I'm going for the ' stick them anywhere approach'. In fact the more I think about it that would be better for baby corn as they're less likely to be pollinated which is what you need.

      The main thing I've found is picking is critical if it gets too big it goes woody very quickly, but catch it just right and it doesn't get to the kitchen. I try to pick mine just as the tassels appear, if they're left for a week then they can be too big.

        I googled and wasn't sure if they grew as large as normal corn cob, might try 6 inches this year and see what happens, will definitely watch for them being ready! First year growing so all is an experiment but we love the mini corn, even the kids :-)

            When picked at the right time its so sweet I just eat them straight away, plus in terms of yield you can eek out up to 4 or 5 cobs per plant, compared with an average 1 or 2 with the full grown cobs.

              Last year I planted mine in blocks, about 6" apart both ways and they did really well. Doing the same this year.

                Thank you all. I think I may try the 6inch apart and see how I get on! Will let everyone know! My veg has done really well today in the gorgeous sunshine :-)

                  Cool, I think this is something that can be squashed in, and if they're in the open ground then watering shouldn't be too much of an issue.

                  Just watch them like a hawk. Once the top flower (male part) begins to show the little cobs will start to show.

                  So excited just thinking about it.
