Last year my cuecumbers were rubbish...I had about 3 from 6 plants..but the tomatoes were great....now this year I have 2 cuecumbers a day (like all the previous years) and the tomatoes are rubbish.

Yerp - same here. Ive got 4 cukes waiting to be eaten, and another 4 in the greenhouse waiting to be picked and at least another 4 in garden/lottie which could do with being eaten.....
And toms - had 2 red ones and the third is going red now.....pathetic...

Got lots of cucumbers, got blight on all toms bar the ones against the wall so far. Found it in the greenhouse last night before work, I had left the doors open during the rain because it was so humid in there. Daarrghhhh!!
Ah well.
Only had three or four cucumbers last year, but loads of toms.Comment

As far as toms and cucs in greenhouses are concerned I've read a number of times various authorities advising against growing both in the same greenhouse because they need different conditions... both need warmth but cucs prefer a humid atmosphere whereas toms benefit from fresh air circulating. Having noted that I completely disregard it of course (how many greenhouses can I have?
) but keep it airy so toms do ok and cucs not so well. It is of course pos to build a little poly tent inside for the cucs but have never gone that far (not THAT keen on cucumber anyway...!) b.

I built my greenhouse and have divided it off with a partition half way down. The far end with little air circulation and warmer conditions have the cucumbers. (about 6 a week at present) and the near end has the tomatoes which have now reached 6ft high but not so many fruit yet but plenty to come. Have had about 2lb of small cherry toms so far.

My tomatoes are doing OK - I think. Have only had two red so far but have lots of little green uns ripening.
I've only one cucumber plant - given to me by a friend, and there's a mini-cucumber on there, hoping it doesn't change its mind.
Last year, neither did well - too much rain and the location of the tiny greenhouse meant it only took in a minimum of the little bit of sun we had. Only a few tomatoes from six plants (indoors and out). I've never bothered separating cukes and toms in the greenhouse and always get good results. About 5lbs of toms so far and 6 large cucumbers with another 4 ready. I always keep the windows open and one of the cucumbers has made a break for freedom and has 2 babies hanging outside. Like Bazzaboy I frequently disregard what I'm told and go my own sweet way. OH says it's not my most endearing quality

My outside cukes (Long White, which incidentally should really be called Short Fat, Pale Green) are prolific and I think I'm going to end up making cuke soup! Outside toms are HUGE and plentiful, inside toms are smaller and plentiful. Even my peppers are roaring away...just need some sun.RtB xComment
