Hi Suesybabe, welcome to the vine. Your cucumbers sound a bit like mine although I haven't eaten any yet to see what they're like inside. Are they an outdoor variety? Mine are supposed to be 'Marketmore' & get fairly long but they are just getting fatter & fatter without getting longer. If they are outdoor ones then it's normal for them to have a tougher skin than greenhouse ones & you can just peel them before eating & remove the seeds. I grew some a few years ago which were supposed to be mini outdoor ones but got quite big & had large seeds so maybe you need to pick them while they are still fairly small to avoid that. They should taste O.K. though it's just a bit messier to prepare them!

Hi suesybabe, I decided to taste my cues after posting my reply & the one I cut was very hard skinned with large seeds in so I peeled it & flicked the seeds out before I sliced it up- tasted alright, posting a couple of photos I took for you to compare with yours.

Hi Suesybabe and welcome to the vine. Sue A my marketmores look quite a bit like that. They haven't grown long either just stubby. I am not complaining the fact they grew and have fruited as well as they have has made me a very proud lady.

Taste so much better than shop bought even with skin and pips.

Still haven't mastered the photo thingy

thanks for your replies again. I like the piccy's and yes mine are the same ( short and stumpy) is this because they were outdoor ones ?

Think it probably is suesybabe, the ones I had though were outdoor but look a lot slimmer & longer on photos of the variety, but I suppose it just varies with the weather, watering, feeding etc. & mine turned out a bit 'stumpy'.
