Congrats! Wish mine was near to fruiting as yours - but its just a wee baby! Am hoping to plant it out this weekend - I can see tiny flowers forming! Mine is a summer squash - the scalloped shaped ones. -

Congratz on the Courgette Jardin, mine are not far behind. Cannot wait to start cooking with them! Jamie Oliver did a whole program the other night about cooking with them, so going to try a few recipies put!!Those that forget the past are condemned to repeat it!Comment

Hi Mi Jardin,
We've got 5 courgette plants in a bed thats 3' wide by 10' long, giving them plenty of space! Either side of the bed we've a row of flowers to provide some interest, and we are catch cropping between them atm, but as they grow, then we'll just let them ramble!
Depends on the variety, but the year before last the courgette plants we had grew up to 5' long each, so we always give them a coule of feet to grow into!

They do sprawl don't they, but worth the space they take up because of the prolific harvest. I'm trying yellow ones for the first time for a bit of interest. Last year I was very generous at giving them away and still had plenty for myself and the family!Granny on the Game in SheffieldComment

You beat me to it. This morning my first courgette is ready to eat. Trusty white volunteer from Real Seeds, the lovely pale Lebanese type. I love these and am going to see if I can beat last year's record of 147 from two plants.

We had 8 little ones the other day, they were only about 10cm, so very tender and delicious. I'm hoping that the more I pick, the more I will get, they are a bit slow to get large at the moment.Comment
