  • A corny question

Virtually all my Double Standard corn has gone a bit silly and seems to be producing 'off shoots'

Is this normal - if not should I nip them out?

Looks like it's going to have Double Standards! Sorry rogesse, I honestly don't know what would be best but I would probably leave it if it was mine! Someone who is a sweetcorn expert will be along soon to put you right!

      Yeah, they do that.
I wasn't impressed with Double Standard last year. Lots of shoots, but hardly any cobs.

I had a packet left, so I've sown them again this year. Good job, because all bar two of my Swift failed.

Groan, groan and double groan - I just knew somebody would do that joke (snadger...).

Similar Twosheds - this particular corn was rubbish last year but I thought I'd give it a second chance in the garden (the proper stuff is down the allotment)

Oh well, I suppose I let it do and see what happens!

Not an expert Rogesse, but I would leave it alone.

The problem I have is the tassles are starting to appear out of the tops but there is no cob shoots appearing out of the sides for them to fertilisize. Maybe it all takes time. I should write things down more than I do - can't remember what they did before .
