phew! I think I've had a lucky escape! I put runner beans,french beans,2 kinds of pumkins and 2 kinds of butternut squash to sprout on kitchen paper 12 days ago.I left them in a bedroom thinking they would be fine. Nothing happened! -2 days ago I noticed the runner beans were going mouldy and realised the room was perhaps too cold (stupid weather!),brought them downstairs -some in airing cupboard and rest on warm window ledges.Result!! hurrah!! sprouting already and potted some up today.

I sort of had the opposite problem, I had my tiny basil and chilli seeds sprouting away and very nicely they were doing too, until i turned around the tray they were in and they must of been too close to the radiator and shriveled up!!!
I quickly put them back to their original position and yay! today they are standing proud again, just shows how delicate they are.Life isnt about surviving the storm.....But learning to dance in the rain.
