  • Cherry tree, aphids and soap...

    Hi all,
I have not been on for a while due to pregnancy (hopefully ending within the week )
    I have a slight problem...
I had a major aphid infestation on my two cherry trees (had not been out to look at them for about a week), when I say major I mean virtually the whole tree was covered in them, on both trees.
I did a bit of online research instead of coming here, don't ask me why must be baby brain.
Anyway, I read that loads of people had success with washing up liquid and water sprayed liberally all over the tree, so I did that, it was raining the day before and the ground was still wet so I thought that the tree wouldn't suck up too much of the solution I sprayed, however the leaves have all gone brown, withered and died, the aphids are gone but now all of the leaves have too...
What I want to know is...
    Have I killed the trees?
Will the leaves grow back this season?
What should I have used, naturally?
How can I help the tree now?

Any help to save these trees would be great, I know that it will be highly unlikely I will get any fruit this season but just hoping the trees haven't died...

Hopefully the tree will put out another lot of leaves, however I suspect that any fruit has gone the same way.

I tend to use a systemic aphid spray, at least the leaves etc remain.
I know it is not "organic" but I don't recall rain coming down as a mix of water and soap either.
In some respects both are man-made in a factory somewhere.
