  • Celery Collars

Hi all - at what point do you start to blanch your celery? I do have self blanching white, which I've been advised (on the seed packet) to plant in close blocks, but have read that it can still be stringy. So to get it tender enough to eat raw, I intend popping on collars. Should I do that at a particular height? Or do I do that from start - plants are now 4-6" high? They are going out today and I thought I could mulch initially. I guess in keeping them wet, I need to watch the slimies too?!
thoughts, advice, tips welcome please and thanks in advance

I too would be interested in this, first year growing celery for me to and although I bought a self-blanching variety I don't want stringy stalks. Although I am very jealous of your growth! Mine were planted at least a month ago and have only just germinated

Biodynamically sown in rockdust/compost mix, which may have nothing to with it of course, but then maybe it does
