Poor jeneyo, Lets hope its the last, those dam cabbage whites get everywhere, I hope you squiged them?

Hi, they've been an absolute pain all summer, they get in everywhere, I've seen them squidging themselves through the netting, had to go back to enviromesh.
However after my kale got skeletonised, I was too busy to dig it up and then saw it was regrowing... Couple of weeks on it looks like palm trees so def worth cutting off the damaged bits and hoping for the best.
Having seen this I thoroughly inspected all my other cabbages, psb etc and as long as the heart wasn't damaged they're all regrowing. Just hoping for a cold snap now to polish the blighters off. But they were all out again today, really hot day and was chasing them off all over again.

PS, cutting off all the damaged leaves has nothing to do with making the plants regrow but it makes me feel better! And my raised beds look less shameful.

are you sure its not the caterpiller from the paracetic wasp they eat the cabbage caterpillars

Nah, that looks nothing like the fat green ones.
And they don't actually help the gardener: parasitised (sp?) caterpillars actually eat more than normal ones

I think they migrate, I saw a load climbing on some netting into a bed of sprouts on a plot over from mine, so don't blame yourself too much... Mine got under netting that was not touched either into my psb's but I noticed them quickly.

Its migration time the cats haver had there fill and crawled away for somewhere to turn into a crysalis (sp) your plants are safe for now

I've spotted caterpillar eggs laid on the netting! I don't know from which side they've been laid. I need to keep a close eye on the brassicas over the next few days!

I got to the point where I resorted to vegetable Bug Clear under the netting, the only chemical I've used on the plot (even managed to stay away from slug pellets this year), it really sorted the b*****s out.
