  • Can i grow potatoes in ash?

    Hi all,

my main crop potatoes are goin to be grown like on the allotment DVD, By piling manure onto cardboard, covering with black plastic and plant through. So to make the mounds up i'm using Well rotted manure, Some MP compost left outside during winter so usless for me pots and some clods of soil from around the sides that'll need a good weed/ seive hence the reason for growing this way.

I've got a massive pile of ash at the back of my allotment from burning off all the wood/brambles/weeds etc when i cleared the lottie. Will I be ok to use this to help heap up the mounds or will it have a detrimental effect on me tatties?

    Cheers
