Broad Beans in growbags?

Personally, I'd mix the compost with some manure and put the mix into the pots and grow 6 to a pot. But I never use growbags as they take too much room - I use the innerds and keep the bags for transporting compost from home to lottie.

Can't see what you have to lose, but Zazen's idea sounds more space efficient. What size pots do you use Zaz for 6 plants?

I would put 6 into the 6 inch ones that SR mentioned. I'd give them tomato food as well to give them a boost once they start flowering.

Well, that's what I'd do......I grew about 20 peas in a 10 inch pot last year and they grew fine.

Woohoo! I ordered some broad bean seeds the other day and they miraculously arrived before any more postal strike nonsense so I think I know what I'm going to be doing after lunch!

I've got some buckets with cukes in, the plants are ready for the heap, can I use that compost (mixed with some manure as suggested) as well or are beans and cukes a bad combination?

I'm sorry if I appeared a bit "off". It's just that my broad beans grew about 3' tall this year and I can't envisage having 6 of them in one pot.

Pinch them out at about 2ft and they will grow out......Mine will be trailed up the strings that held the tomatoes - in fact they will be pressed into the same soil as i'm just going to snip the toms off and leave the pots insitu.

I've already got some beans on the go in the same way - all beans that aren't good enough to eat or save until next year are being pressed into the tomato pots and grown in the greenhouse.

Me too, rocketron, I really can't imagine 6 broad beans in one 6" pot.
