  • Broad beans: all pod and no bean..

I harvested some broad beans today and although the pods were 6-8" long, they contained very few beans and sometimes none!

Does anyone know why this would be?

There was a thread on this earlier today.
It's due to the weather and lack of pollination.

    Too hot for beans.
Also, the hot days and cold nights have affected insects so the flowers have not been pollinated. They can still grow pods without pollination however the beans will not form or will not grow very well.

Here's a link to the thread:

I had the same problem, think I posted it in the new shoots bit. But the answers were poor pollination and it being too hot
