  • Blunder of the day

potted on some toms last night which were long overdue. just before i put them back in the greenhouse I had a nagging doubt that I'd drilled drainage holes in the flower buckets... sure enough I hadn't (clearly I was being lazy when I did my last lot and missed them out).

lord knows what the neighbour must have thought watching me attack several potted tomato plant with a power drill from underneath. it didn't help that i'd already watered them in either.

    nice work batman.

I have this lovely picture in my mind of you lying under a greenhouse bench getting splattered with water

if your neghbours ask, just tell them its the latest technique and you learned all about it on another Forum (not this one of course because we're far too clever ).

If it's any consolation you'll find that you do this sort of thing much more often as you get older.

I use a corkscrew to drill mine Mainly because I can't find the electric drill.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

At least you realised before the plants started floating out of the pots...

I think I have also blundered today. I planted out what I thought were leeks. Nice deep holes with the dibber and watered them in to get some soil around the roots.

However, the more I think about it the more I think they were onions. I really can't remember.

              Only time will tell.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

I attack mine with a kitchen knife because I can't find my drill either Thanks for the corkscrew tip though - I might try that next time!
