  • Bl**dy pigeons!!!

Caught a pigeon munching on my second largest cauliflower this morning. Unfortunately when I went out to investigate it has completely decimated my second sowing of purple sprouting, strated munching on my first sowing and had 3 of my cauliflowers. I am not a happy bunny.
Will now have to investigate how to net my whole bed. To top it all, I am writing this listening to the wind howling outside - wonder if i will have any climbing beans left by tomorrow morning! hoo hum

Try the Dasterdly and Muttley netting corp?

One tip...try and make sure net is high enough above brassicas...i have found they won't go under a net but will land on it and peck through

        Can't believe the storm either...what a year!

I hate the pigeons at our allotments. They sit watching from the overhead electricity wires waiting for us to disappear and looking for a chink in my defences. Anyone with ideas for how to hang, draw and quarter them please send them my way. In fact pigeon pie sounds almost irresistable.

No I didn't net them, never had any trouble from birds before. My brassicas have been happily growing for 3 months without being touched until now!

Many years ago, when I was a meat eater, in a Cairo restaurant, we were served a great plate of meat portions with lots of little legs. Someone suggested it was rat and only a few of us actually braved it (me included). It was pigeon! And in Morocco, its a delicacy in a filo pastry parcel with sugar and raisins.
So there are lots of ways of disposing of pigeons!
