Default Best way to store my potatos

I'm looking for bags of some sort to store my main crop potatos and the last of my earlies and salad ones as well.
I've possibly got the option of getting some hessian sacks or old paper feed sacks.
Which would be best? I'm going to put them in the garage once I've bagged them all up.

Hi Nicky,

I think hessian would be best, it will allow some airflow but not any light. Make sure the potatoes are fully dried in the sun for a while before storing.

Not sure if the earlies will store well, but I am sure someone else will be along shortly, Mandy

I've made a clamp in the lottie for mine!

If I can keep the rats from digging them up they should be ok there!

PS I stored mine in strong cardboard boxes last year and it worked well as they were very easy to pack and store on my shelves!

Main crop tatties should be fine in paper sacks. Store cool and dark (shed or garage?). New potatoes don't store well, nor do salad types - only way I've been able to keep them OK is in the salad drawer in the fridge - obviously no good if you have lots.
