As the title what's the best tubers to buy for really big baked potato thanks.

When you have a hammer in your hand everything around you starts looking like a nail. -
I use two varieties, Lady C a first early left in the container for 18 weeks or so, had one tonight for tea IMO a good taste. Later in the year it will be Picasso a late crop that will give large tasty bakers, these will be in the container at least 22 weeks.

The biggest potatoes I've grown are Remarka (first photo) and Ambo - both varieties are good for baking.Comment

I'm with Pots - I leave some of my Lady C's in the ground to get bigger tubers. This year I haven't had to leave them in much longer at all to get bakers, but I have been watering obsessively. The biggest tatties I ever grew were called Maxine.
A red skinned white fleshed fluffy potato which was gorgeous baked.
I haven't grown them again this year though as they were very prone to keel slug damage

Decent sized Kestrels make good bakers. The skin isn't too thick and cooks nice and nutty while the flesh readily takes on butter, cheese or other toppings. They're fairly slug resistant too.Location ... NottinghamComment
