  • B&Q half price veg plugs.

If like me you are having no luck with some of your plants, B&Q are selling veg & flower plants at half price. This morning I picked up 12 Cauli, 12 Cabbage & 12 Swede for 99p per punnett, I also picked up 24 Petunia for £2.50p..........A bargain me thinks.

Sound like good buys, BM. Veg plants were £1.50 a strip at the Plant Fair this morning. - I resisted!

I had to get some as I have fried mine twice. Have got a 3rd batch going but wanted to play safe as they were a good size.

Once again you're a star BM. I'm hunting for plants since the slugs munched over a hundred of mine grown from seed, so before I order any on line, I'll call at B & Q in the morning before work to see what they've got. Thanks!

I'm trying very hard not to make a rude comment?

I just might have to call in B&Q tomorrow - I wasn't going to grow swede this year after the giant woody things the last lot ended up (left them too long before harvesting, I know) but I could be tempted. 12 for 99p sounds like my idea of a bargain.
I think BM likes encouraging us all to spend our money.....

Sad to say I avoided buying the plants from Blackburn B&Q.
Many were dead or had very obvious and extensive frost damage.
Some were so bad there were no plants left in the containers.
Not great advert for the bank holiday bonanza they would have wanted.
Are B&Q plants UK grown do you know?
I wondered if they had been hardened off before being put out.

i might have to pop in b&q or other garden centres to see if they have sweetcorn plugs .... the mice scoffed my sweetcorn seeds before they grew .... repeat sowings have done nothing so far .... i sowed the last of my sweetcorn seeds yesterday ....

Yes, most of the pot plants (Toms, Aubergines, Sweet Potato) were in very poor nick, so much so I told them, which is unlike me.

Thanks Matt. It's Penistone Road I use. I haven't had time to call this week, but it was brassicas I was after, particularly sprouts and I dont' think they'll have got them. If you go in later, do let me know please and I'll try to call in the morning. I have had experience of B & Q selling neglected, dying plants and I have commented to staff, but you get little reaction.
