  • Anyones use growpots??

    Anyone use growpots for tomatoes?

The plastic things with their own reservoir that you stick in growbags . Chopped the bottom out of normal plant pots last year and although at about a fiver each growpots aren't cheap the thought of something that will make watering easier appeals to me :-)

    thanks

I grew all my tomatoes with these last year. They were fine, the plants grew strongly and were easy to water. The idea is they have more room to spread their roots - I can't remember exactly but I think you just water through the grow bag first so the roots spread into the grow bag, then you water the pot too? OR it might be the other way round!!! I would guess that you would find a good difference when using the proprietry pots rather than DIY chopping of plant pots. Sometimes they crop up in special offers (eg buy 6 for price of 4 or something).

I used three Growpots in a growbag for the first time last year, although for cucumbers rather than tomatoes.

Personally, I found them very good. It was a lot easier to water the bag and they give a bit extra volume of compost, which is no bad thing. I wouldn't hesitate to use them with tomatoes.
