  • Anyone saved lettuce seeds?

I've let a few Black Seeded Simpson lettuces go to seed with a view to saving some for next year. The plants have flowered and withered, but as the weather was grotty, I picked the tops and have put them in a vase inside to finish off flowering and will then dry them. Thing is, have pulled some of the brown petals off searching for seed, but there doesn't seem to be much of anything that looks like lettuce seed. Does it miraculously appear once the heads have dried off fully....?

I think the flowers do really have to dry off; I always think this with my herbs; but then once they are fully dried out [the flowers] then inside are all the tiny hard seeds.

I find lettuce seed hard to harvest, so now I let the plant self-seed and then I transplant the seedlings
