    Anyone growing mooli?

    Hello,

    Is anyone growing mooli? How are they doing?

    My has produced a lot of leaves and the root is about an inch in diameter but the plant has now bolted. I've cut some of the stem off to stop but I don't know if that's the right thing to do. Is that the right think to do to get it to develop "normally" again?

    Sow some more now. They are better as a later season crop - bolting in hot weather.

      I sowed some and they went to seed really quickly, probably as Flum says because of the hot weather. I'm sowing some more this weekend.

        Later season crop for me. I'll be sowing towards end of the month into august. They tend to bolt when its hot or dry. Better to grow summer radishes during that time.

          You can eat mooli leaves like spinach. cooked or raw. lovely peppery taste. :-) I cook it with chickpea flour...yummy.
          I know I'd use the leaves if it decided to bolt and not make much root.

            I don't sow Chinese type veg until later in the summer usually (otherwise it bolts), but I couldn't resist putting a few rows of mooli in this week (I had an empty patch that needed filling)
