Sounds feasible, but I wouldn't want to load 1 tonne of earth into it.

I recently had a delivery in one. It is BIG and strong but it would not keep the light out so you would be risking some green potatoes if they were near the sides. Possibly more trouble than its worth but others may have tried and have good advice.

Have seen on TV, comunity growing areas in London where everything is grown in the one ton sacks. Seems to work out well there and they seem to grow almost everything in them. Bigest problem I have found from experience is trying to keep the sacks in a tidy shape.

I have a blue one too but have decided to bang in 4 stakes, tie the handles to them and use as an instant compost heap!
