    Yah, I have a polytunnel :)

    Well, not quite yet but I do have all the bits in the garage. Delivered today. Hopefully will persuade OH to put the frame up on Sunday at the lottie but don't think realistically we'll have time to do it all this weekend. However am still remarkably excited and could do with having somewhere sheltered to work up there if the weather continues to be so cold and rubbish

    Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

    Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

    How exciting

    This is my fourth year with my PT and I seem to harvest more and more from it each year.

    You'll love it but it's a bit more work remembering that everything grwon in the pt is started 4 - 6 weeks ealier than outside crops and again at the other end of the season.

      Thanks, have loads of things I want to try to extend the season at both ends but also obviously intend to have lots of tomatoes and peppers in there in the summer. Just hope that nobody takes a knife to it at the lottie, think I'd cry!

          Ooooh, I'm so envious I was given one a couple of years ago. Well, the frame anyway. I had planned to put it up at my Parents' place (with their permission, obviously) but then they decided to put the place on the Market, so it's still not got a cover on. Maybe I should tempt fate and put it up. Luckily I can use my Dad's Greenhouse if I need to, but it must be fab to have a Polytunnel

            Great news. It will add to the Itchy Compost Syndrome though! You'll be dying to fill it.

              In my second year some lovely person made a 2 foot slice in the end panbel of the PT. I was very grown up and just got out the repair tape and I've not had a problem since.So guess I've been lucky.

              Yesturday a found three holes in the highest point of the PT by the central bar which runs lengthways. Once again got the tape out. 3 guys down the site said it couldn't be done but I showed them. I stood on an overturned water trough and cut a bit of tape and put one end gently on the end of a cane. I leaned over and reached out with the cane let the cane rest on the top of pt and wiggles it about until it stuck to the pt and then managed to roll the cane of the other end of the tape. DId a few more pieces and then the inside.

                    Congratulations! Envy here too and totally understand your excitement. We can't get to the lottie often enough to water it at the moment, and our plot gets very hot and sunny all day in the summer - wouldn't work.

                    You'll have hours of fun with it... Like Flum says, itchy compost syndrome will hit HARD now!

                        I've already been planting on the basis of getting it so we need to get it up quickly to get the soil warmed up. The area is partially dug already so that's a good start but still loads to do. Spent ages trying to decide what size to get and eventually decided that 10' by 20' was best for the space I've got but did hang my nose over the 14' wide one for ages

                          Well, the frame is up. Took a bit longer than we expected as the supposed self tapping screws were a right b*tch and we didn't put the cross member clamps onto the hoops before we did the main frame so had problems stretching them on and then bolting back together. Anyway it looks good and leaves me with enough space for the 4 No 4' by 6' beds I was planning to one side and a decent asparagus bed near the gate. Am happy with the size (would have liked bigger but it would have taken up too much space) but can't wait for it to be covered. Looking at the calendar I don't think OH will be able to help until the first weekend in March which seems far too long away!

                            Brilliant news - I'd want to set myself a bed up in there (for me to sleep in not grow in).

                            Very envious of anyone with a polytunnel - but I think it'd be blown away on my plot.

                              How exciting! They are an absolute b*gger to put up, aren't they! Ours took forever, and Mr OWG said he will never build another again....

                              We are finally making raised beds in ours this spring... got to order more manure and compost to fill them though!
