    New Greenhouse help.

    Hi there,

    this year has been my first year of gardening and everything I've grown has been outside (tomatoes, potatoes, peas, runner beans etc).

    I've just ordered my first greenhouse (Halls 66 model), I was planning on sitting in on gravel but will I need to secure it somehow(it comes with a base)?

    Also, I'm eager to grow through the winter but as it will be unheated I'm unsure as to what I can grow? I'm going to overwinter my sweet peas and fushia cuttings but other than that i'm at a loss?

    Over winter I grow 'Arctic king' and All year round' lettuce in my greenhouse, sowing them during the last week in August then the young plants go in late October once the toms have finished.

    Can't help with securing your GH mines an old Halls GH given to me by a neighbour it didn't come with a base so instead we build the base using concrete blocks then fixed the GH to it with frame fixings.
    Location....East Midlands.

      I have this greenhouse the base comes with 4 legs so you could cement them in.

        Brilliant thanks, think we're going to see how it sits directly on the groun with gravel around it, its quite a sheltered spot so wind shouldn't be a problem (I hope,lol).

        Really lookong forward to getting stuck in properly next year :-)

          The base has legs as mentioned above. I sunk the legs of my base in plantpots, filled with postcrete. I also used a gravel base, but have just started to take it up to plant directly in the ground.

          Here's a photo to show you the base, it's upside down, so you can see the legs.

          I used pea gravel from Wickes - it was £30 then, for a cubic metre bag, I think it's around £35-£40 now.

          If the GH is glass it will be heavy so won't blow away in the wind
