    Cheap fruit and veg cage

    I had been searching the internet for a cheap fruit and veg cage, but the freight to France is high even if they would send it and the one on-line here are quite expensive.

    After having my cauli's pecked away by some pigeons, I decided to build my own. I just had to buy some blue water pipe as I had been given some netting and had plenty old wood and post around to put it together.

    yep, that's the way to do it. A cage is my next years project.

    Just come back from a few days away and found my strawberries almost all gone... then I watched as a squirrel taking what was left.
    Its Grand to be Daft...

      Hi Arpoet

      We also had same problem with our strawberries and had to lay a plastic net over them which did the job. Now that I have built one cage and realised how easy it was I think I will have a few more for other crops.

        Does look good
        I've got two cages one for strawbs and one for my brassicas because I've seen what damage the birds and butterflies do.

          we used an old frame tent. the netting was hand stitch in some places, but its given us a 10x10 plot. some really cheap tents on the market which can be used just for the frame work.

            Thank you for posting this, it has gave me a brilliant idea I have a polytunnel suffering from the windows following out the cover, thinking of now taking that off and using it as a brassica cage or somewhere to put some strawberries in Thanks

              that's is the best way,also if you wanted,extend it by cutting through the hoops in either direction,and slid some other piping over it,to extend the length,height width,i was wondering if some plastic pipe would be strong enough,or strong cane tied on,
