    Seedling protection uising large pop bottles

    Just a tip i have got off my allotment guru my father in law.

    Get a large 2 litre plastic coke bottle. take the top and bottom bit off, then cut them in half. Then but each half over the new seedling. This will help to stop slugs and other beasties and also help as amini clotch.

    at the moment i have save about 20 bottles for the new season and had to stop due to storage! but will be giving it go next year.

      I can confirm it works very well with beetroot. I used them this year to protect seedlings I'd replanted after thinning out. Amazing how quickly they perked up when sheltered from the wind.

          i will do. i have saved about 20 bottles lol (just to say i have 6 of us in my house who drink the stuff) i have stopped saving them now due to lack of space.

            I tend to just cut the bottoms off, remove the screw top and bung 'em over like that.
