| Congratulations on the MOM Snadger!! I too love Ebay. Haven't bought much gardening stuff on there but did manage to get some leeks when I had left it a bit late! Have bought some 'odd' seeds like loofa and liquorice but haven't grown them yet - ran out of time this year. Have also got rid of some bits and pieces which were too good to throw or give away and it is nice to pass something along and get a bit of cash for it too! We mostly use ebay to get old records for our jukebox collection (if anyone has a stack of old 45's PM me!!) |

| I love ebay too as well Snadger! My best buy was my 6' x 8' greenhouse including staging for £20, but also an old copy of Mrs Beetons Household Cookery - think that was one of my first purchases! I like the sound of your new book - may have a search to see if there are any more! DDL

| I'm a bit dubious (spelling) about ebay as I know people who have paid for things and they've never received them (not cheap things either) and ebay don't do anything about it. I have bought the odd thing but never pay more than I can afford to lose just in case.

| I am a bit of an e-bay addict. Just sold a Robert Jordan book 1st edition. I bought it at bookbarn for £6.00 and sold it on ebay for £102. Now that is what I call a result. I do tend to buy far more than I sell though. Oh well. |

My dealings are usually 'small potatoes' but I have bought cars off ebay without problems. As you say, if you only bid what you can afford to lose, thats the best way to look at it! |

!Also bought a £200 N reg Escort banger til I found the car I wanted, and its still going! |

| We bought a car off ebay too! A 1983 ex-military series III Landrover (109 longwheelbase softtop in green and black cammo), 3 months out from the restorers (the guy who bought it had it done up, then his wife fell pregnant with twins so he had to sell it and get a sensible car). It was a real bargain, as he had listed it in the wrong area, so unless you searched for Series III you wouldnt find it, so we got it for about a third of what it should have been! Made a great birthday prezzie for Mr D! ![]() Unfortunately it cost too much to run as a second car, so we had to tearfully let her go a year later, but was great fun to drive and wonderful for camping holidays!

| I loved our Lanny, it was great fun, but as Mr D only works 5 miles from home it wasnt even getting warmed up, so was running on the choke all the time! ![]() It meant his petrol bill was about £100 a month to do about 120 miles! ![]() So unfortunately it had to go! Wish we could have afforded to keep her, would be very useful now for the plot, especially when we fetched the free greehouse!

| Wow gals!!! I have bought a 1985 Rover SD1 (to add to our collection) for the grand sum of £10.50 (yes you read right). 'Shelley' hasn't even covered 40,000 miles from new and was still wearing her original tyres. She still smells like a new car!!! We also bought a 1983 Austin Mini for our eldest son - that requires major restoration work (it is a convertible) but that was the whole point - make the boy bleed for the car and then he may not want to bend it!! I learned to drive in a Series 3 landrover! Love them but though I have 4 ponies and could do with a landrover, the size of our car collection precludes buying one! Long live car buying on Ebay!! |

| Snadger just had a look at abebooks.co.uk on the t'internet - the book you got off ebay - the cheapest copy is £17.00+P+P. You got a bargain! well done. DDL PS if you ever want any book - try this website! Its never failed me yet, whatever Ive been looking for!

| I really miss not living so near to Bookbarn now - wasted many an hour wandering around those cavernous barns! On the Ebay horror story front: when I first started using Ebay I didn't get off to a great start as I bought a skirt from someone and it never turned up. In that situation, after many communications with the seller you report the issue to Ebay who will then contact the seller to investigate. It seems that if you use Paypal to pay (which I had) ebay can simply reverse the transaction so you are refunded. Of course if you have paid by cash or cheque this is not so easy, so I don't know what happens in that situation. Certainly the seller I had an issue with had several negative comments against her username and shortly afterwards was chucked off ebay. So my advice to you if you decide to use ebay is to set up a Paypal account and use that (it's safe and secure - just don't give out your password to anyone e-mailing for it under the guise of ebay or Paypal) and also always check a user's feedback - if they have negatives it might not have been their fault, but you can always read what has been said and make up your own mind, and usually if they have several negatives it's a good indicator that you need to tread carefully. This was the lesson I quickly learnt from my experience. I actually think Ebay is fantastic - I've bought loads from it, but more recently have made nearly £300 just from selling bits and bobs around the house to raise wedding money and have had no problems at all. |

| I have never used ebay, but friends of mine have. They bought hatching eggs. Now I am sure that there are many folk out there who have done the same, but beware. The eggs don't always hatch as they are advertised! Might be better to get those from a named breeder! |

| I use ebay loads too, I've bought plants, seeds, gifts - it's amazing what you can find on there. I found it a lifesaver as I'm so far from the shops here, so mail order is great. I think you have to read the descriptions very carefully and I always read the seller's feedback too, to try and get an impression of how honest they are too. I was looking at cars to buy but I would never buy something so big from someone who didn't have much feedback listed, and I wouldn't buy it without seeing it and test driving it first. |

| Hi Waffler - yes, Ive made around that much as well, selling stuff I no longer needed! dread to think how much Ive spent though! Its just so much easier to buy from ebay, then mr postie delivers the parcel - no traipsing around the shops etc etc. DDL PS bet you cant guess what my ebay name is! LOL
