  • Need a new inexpensive tumble dryer - any suggestions?

have had this one for quite a few years but it is now so unreliable that it is costing us money as sometimes we have to put it on twice before the clothes are dry.

have decided that we now need to replace. but of course as it's just after christmas we are, as usual, seriously skint.

does anyone either know of any good deals just now and/or can recommend a basic, cheap model please/

    thanks

Can't recommend one- but next time I'll go for a good make which only has a facility for tumbling for so many minutes.
I use 75 mins facility on mine 95% of the time...so all the other facilities I''ve paid for are wasted.
Yep- the 'tumble a bit clockwise- then the other way' does stop stuff getting knotted- but I'd be happy to check it out a couple of times during the drying period to separate stuff.

A few years ago I had a problem with my washing machine and whilst the engineer was repairing it ( and giving it a service)I asked if he'd look at my aged tumble dryer- he said it wasn't worth paying for a service as there is so little to go wrong with them- esp if you don't overload them ( wears/breaks the spindle)

I know you can get shop damaged white goods at very low prices- who cares about a dent or two??

    Alternatively- free cycle??
Or- how about calling into a place which fits new kitchens and ask them to keep an eye out for ones being replaced for you?

    Hope you get sorted soon!

sorry if it sounds obvious but have you tried clearing the filter as that could cause the efficiency to drop especially if it hasn't been cleared in a while if it dries eventually it means the element is still heating therefore most likely to be an issue with airflow
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand
