  • Any one else pregnant?

This may sound a fact thing but... I'm pregnant and finding difficult to get into my veggie growing properly. Has any one got any tips to help me still get plenty of produce without to much effort, lifting or bending?
    Thanks my little Grapeviners ;-)

Growing in pots and containers can give a good yield. You could also check out square foot gardening.

Firstly, congratulation's on your bump . Secondly have you any raised bed's? Tall plant pot's can be lifted onto bricks to make it easier for you to reach them, but don't lift them onto brick yourself. I grow most things in large pot's and a raised bed, so I know you can get a good crop from them. Your not going to be able to feed the 5,000, but you'll grow enough to keep the table full of veg.

So I'd recommend if you have a partner, learning to use your thumb. I'm definately under it

Although I should say that's an awful to say, it acutally made me laugh out loud. I will try my thumb out tonight and hubby and see if it is big enough!!!!!!

              Congrats

I have a nine week old girl and last year pretty much got no gardening/growing done. I had a grotty time with sickness etc all throughout and a bad pelvis. And my OH had a disc prolapse!

Got very frustrated, but in the scheme of things it was just a year out. Managed salad crops, some potatoes, runner beans - all things that needed not too much care. Watched with the pots that you have an easy watering system, better a hose than lugging a water can about

                I'm due in the summer
It was a bit of a surprise getting to the top of the list for a plot so quickly, and so I've been thinking of things like potatoes to fill the ground and keep the weeds down for a bit, also, I love squash, and have a few different varieties I can fill the ground with this summer.
However, even though the allotment has never been my OH's thing, he's been accompanying down there and insiting on doing the harder jobs, so I'll see if he keeps it up and plan my crops accordingly

Last year my other half gave birth in June, for the 4 months before I constructed a table and filled troughs for her to sow in without the need to bend down. Over the summer they were highly productive and we will be using them again this year.

She didnt get any back pain from them, and she enjoyed the whole summer in the garden.

                      Congrats to you

I was pregnant last year during late summer, and i was like elsie scott, just did the basics that didn't need much care, like runner beans, tomatoes and potatoes etc.....

Don't do too much and take it easy it will all be there after the baby as arrived

My little one is 3 weeks old, and can't wait to start for this year...
