  • 2nd April 2007 Full Moon today!

a Friend told me that planting seeds on NewMoon is the best way for germination, this was confirmed to me today when i clicked on the horse manure website on top tips, how interesting, but since its Full Moon we will do pruning...

Does it matter that I planted a load yesterday?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I'll join in and sow something - carrots probably - I always have problems with those so any help going.....
The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!

Today is a full moon, not a new moon.

The last new moon was on 19th March and the next one is 17th April.

So do I hold off on sowing the carrots then? They never grow for me which is really annoying. Parsnips no probs, carrots..... patchy germination and poor to nonexistant growth.

Full Moon - as in my avatar. 14 days later (by sheer fluke...exactly 2 weeks...or ids that how we have weeks calculated in ancient times?) is the new moon when it is not illuminated by the sun at all. Here's a rather beautiful attachment...

An old wives tale says: "lunar fluctuations affects earths magnetic field and its atmosphere, causing all water, including even the smallest bits, to move in a tidal fashion. This makes significant rainfuall statistically more likely after a new moon. So if you sow your seeds after the full moon they should get a good shower ofor two to help their germination. This tip goes all the way back to the egyptians."
Who knows if this is correct? I have planted some more seeds today, but they are in my greenhouse, so I dont think this applies!
