  • Sweet corn raising the roof...

Hi, I've planted sweetcorn in raised beds in poly tunnel. Growing well until man who I obtained plot from saw them and said I should remove them out as he tried growing in his first year and they went through the roof...literally.

Now im worried it will grow too much and damage poly.

Anyone know if you can chop tops off sweecorn if it grows too tall, without hindering cob growth? Or should I remove them and plant outside?

Really looked forward to growing but he's burst my bubble a bit ;(

I'm just guessing here but once the cobs are formed, the plant has done its job therefore the seed top could be cut off. Please wait for confirmation before doing it though.

How tall are they at the moment? And how tall is the polytunnel?
