beetroot trouble

Hi all, can anyone tell me what as had me beetroot, i transplanted them from modules, they was about 2.5 inch.
That was done on saturday and when i looked yesterday they were fine, whent down the plot this morning to open the cold frames and a quick look still fine, nipt in tonight to close up and its hit and miss with them.
Had no problems last year with birds etc, any ideas please

What was wrong with your beetroot Muckman ? Pulled out, fainted, shrivelled or what ?

I have some brassicas netted to keep the pigeons off and about 4 'disappeared' in the course of a day. I think they were surreptitiously slugged to death. I now have slug traps as well as net - no more disappearances!
