  • Rotting onions

Does anyone know why my onions are rotting in the ground? Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

It could be Onion White Rot but I seriously hope it isnt, if it is, then dont store these onions at all, burn all leaf and dont grow any aliums in the same place for a very long time > 15 years. Onion White Rot is a fungus that is spread by contact between root and bulb. If you google images on Onion White Rot you should be able to determine whether you have it. Good Luck

White rot affects the root first so plants stop growing and maybe fall over.
It spreads to the bulb which will then rot but if you are quick you may be able to use the onions.
Sadly nothing can be done about white rotand as has been said the spores can persist in the ground for a very long time.
On the bright side you'll have more space to grow other things!
