  • Dried Currants Hooch ideas??

Hi All, first post from me.

I have been given a 2.3l container filled to the brim with dried currants and I am stuck for uses, apart from mincemeat.

I would like to combine with alcohol but am stumped for ideas as I usually use fresh fruits for hooch making.
Has anyone made dried fruit hooch successfully? (especially currants!)

    Any help gratefully appreciated

    Ta

If it contains sugar, it can be fermented. If it contains vine-fruits it will ferment WELL. There are recipes in the winemakers 'bible' (Berry, "first steps in Winemaking) for raisin wine. Currants should work just the same.

'currants' in the dried fruit sense are actually a type of dried grape.

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
