  • Sought After Strawberry Variety

I'd like to secure several of the best tasting strawberry varieties there is to grow for next year so I imagine I'll have to get the runners this year (even then I might be too late for next year's harvest ). I'm interested in the list of strawberry below but I'm happy to order one of them if any interested Grapes already have the others for swapping with my ordered one.

Also like to highlight that I may have runners from an alpine variety that produces runners , save you raising them from seeds. I also already have the common Honeoye, Cambridge Favourite and Sarian F1 (raised from seeds) if you're interested in these although I do not think they are anything like the ones below for excellent taste.

    Everbearer
Mara des Bois, Flamenco, Malling Opal, Everest, Charlotte

    Early Summer
Ciflorette (taste/flavour superior to Gariguette by one site),
Gariguette, Darlisette (fairly new), Mae, Rosie

    Mid Summer
    Tenira, Cambridge Late Pine, Hapil,
Royal Sovereign (Gariguette is French equivalent of this)
    and possibly Marshmello

    Late Summer
    Chelsea Pensioner, Daisy

Thanks Chris for the offer but I think I'm fine with the alpine variety. I've acquired a plant of wild strawberry (Fragaria Vesca??) which although is an alpine produces runners unlike the others such as Mignonette, Barons, Alexandria, Reugen, Red Wonder etc that needs dividing. Also already have seeds for Mignonette but haven't got round to sowing them...as I'm not sure if I have space/resources for more . Let us know how you get on with Rugen .

I have no idea what variety mine are any more... I used to have 4 different types but they are probably now all cross pollenated. If you are wanting to try a couple I will attempt to find a way to get them in the post to you. Let me know.

I've ordered a pack of 12 Mara des Bois plants from Ken Muir. I could swap you a few of them for the same quantity of another variety such as Gariguette or Darlisette if you were going to order.

          PM me if interested.

Just for the record, there are two of us so far who will be acquiring two of the premuim tasting strawberry variety from the list. I will be ordering the Darlisette (early fruiting) and will also have Mara des Bois. I'm still interested in other varieties from the list.

Da-Ra - we have a set of rules for seed swapping so if you could hang on until you meet them that would be great. Also, this thread is 4 years old.

People will start reporting you for strange behaviour if you start bumping lots of old threads...

Chalkie, am sure one of the mods will tell you anyway but if you look up a few posts you'll see a link to the rules on seed swaps

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Thank you Alison. Chalkie has been told about the T&Cs twice before http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...eds_82172.html
                          and warned about banning.
Three strikes and he's out. Goodbye Chalkie.
