My favourite veg! Cut it up into chip shapes and stir fry with a dried whole chilli and some garlic until tender, then some soy sauce and sesame oil and enjoy. Courtesy Madhur Jafrey. The leaves can be stir fried too. OH cooked a delicious casserole with it too but I don't have the recipe to hand.

If they aren't too old, the roots are lovely eaten raw, which is my preferred way to eat them. Just peel and slice! Also nice with any vegetable dip. I tend to stir-fry the leaves and stalks in an asian manner, as suggested by Capsid.

Yep - great in a salad either thinly sliced or grated.

Very jealous - two attempts failed.

Could you use it in a coleslaw?

                    I can only imagine!

Never eaten it myself, hence I wanted to try and grow it!

I didnt realise that I had actually grown kohlrabi someone on the lottie gave me a small pot with a few cabbagey looking sedlings which I added to the rest of my brassicas and hey presto when they came up .....the elusive kohlrabi I've never tried it before, tasted it raw and it was quite radishey cooked it too and think it would be lovely with a white sauce will give it a go, are you supposed to eat it small or is it still ok if you leave it to get bigger?

First year for me as well, and so far so good.

Not big enough to pull yet, but thanks for the tips

I let mine get quite large; it's the bottom that gets woody so just cut this off.

Don't let them get too large as it does affect the taste if you are eating them raw.

It gains 10/10 in my book for unusual looking veg. Everyone comments on it - WHATS THAT! It does look like something out of Star Trek, especially if you grow the purple ones.
