Bit early for mackerel up our way........usually about mid July!

Once the shoals are in though me and the lads will do a bit parental bonding and get stuck into them!

I just like them filleted and grilled, Mmmmmm!

Good luck to you and ...........tight lines!

I live in Dover, and OH and I were thinking of Mackerel fishing when the time is right. Where do you fish from, pier or beach?

we used to gut them, then put a bit of crumbled oxo cube and what ever herbs were to hand in,wrap them in foil and barbeque for about 3 minutes ,no need for oil or butter as they have loads when fresh, swill down with a glass of cider. This was done on the beach straight after the fish was landed.

Could be nice the way I cooked a couple of trout last week. You need a roasting bag (or foil) and an orange. Cut the orange in half, cut one half into 2, place a quarter in each fish, squeeze the juice out of the other half-ornage over the fish, wrap in fil or roasting bag, and bake about gas 4 for half an hour (probably a bit longer if using foil) If you have jacket-spuds with it, the oven is used more efficiently.

The Admiralty Pier or the Breakwater are best.
