  • What came first?

The roundy end or the pointy end?

Isn't it funny the things you think about when you wake in the middle of the night?

    Anyone know?

Yep, eggs are laid round end first. The muscles that push the egg out act on the 'slopiness' of the pointy end.
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Bit like when we have babies, we get the big bit out of the way first then the rest doesn't seem (quite) as bad.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I thought you were pondering whether the chicken or the egg came first!

I was thinking about it yesterday, and came to the conclusion that it must of been the egg. The chicken must of evolved from something else (bit like hydrids), so in theory the egg came first.

And I nuts or just sleep deprived? lol

Yep, the chicken must have evolved by a slight mutation in the egg, which was laid by something almost a chicken, but not quite. Hybrids haven't evolved though, they've just been cross-bred and both parents were both completely chickens.

I did mean the egg! Hilary and Bluemoon - that's what I assumed. But then I wondered if io would come sort of gradually if the pointy end came first.

The round end first. That's the bit with the air sac in it to cushion the fall (I think!) Also, yes the (mutated) egg came first.

I had a great cartoon somewhere of a startled looking chicken in bed with a smug looking egg, smoking a cigarette and with the caption "I'll think you'll find it was me."
