  • Trouble logging in

Sorry Mods/Techs, not sure where to post this so just putting on bit I normally use.

Why when I go to log in as normal do I get a message saying invalid name/password and another screen where I have to put name, password in etc before it will let me in? It's getting really frustrating. I haven't changed my user name or password so why is it suddenly refusing me access unless I go through this rigmarole each time?

    Oh dear, that's strange
When it takes you to the second screen, click the remember me box, that way you won't have to keep logging in. Other than that, if you still have problems, come back and I'll ask the experts.

I did click the remember me box. I do tend to log out each time I go off line, should I stay logged in?

I think it's personal preference. I stay logged in - the only trouble with that is, people think I'm here when I'm not. I still can't understand why it only lets you in on the second attempt.

... oh, now that's strange I've just logged in and had the same problem as you. I'll contact Admin and let them know.

I don't normally log out but tried it to see what happens. Logged back in without a problem but it said there were no new messages, then that annoying message about searching for messages updated in the last 24 hours must wait .. seconds.... where you end up chasing your tail!
Definitely not going to log out again - too much hassle.

Where is the remember me box? I used to be logged on all the time, but I was logged out once and had to get a new password and since then I am automatically logged out whenever close.

The remember me box is on the second page Elizajay. If you go straight past the first screen without entering anything you will find it on the second login screen.

When you first go to the gyo forum - there is a box for user name. Ignore this.
There is a box for password. Also ignore this.
                      Instead - press 'log in'.
It takes you to the second log in page.

This page has user name, password and a 'remember me' box. Fill these in and tick 'remember me'.

If this doesn't work, then let us know. You may want to clear your GYO cookies first though.

Have you tried following Zaz's instructions? I think this should cure it.

                          ETA:
We've had a reply from the expert and he has looked at it and can't find anything specific, he's still looking. In the meantime, he suggests clearing the GYO cookies. The instructions depend upon which browser (Internet explorer, Google Chrome etc.) you are using but there are lots of instructions if you Google it (other search engines are available )

I use Firefox, which remembers my passwords for me. Saves a whole lot of bother (but I do sometimes forget password if I want to log in from anywhere else).
I believe Chrome will do this as well.
