Does anybody use a solar powered or similar kind of door on there coop if so are they worth it or not , they seem a good idea but a lot of money.

auto door opener for poultry houses
Not solar but automatic - light sensitive i think. I looked into making my own, bits & bobs form Maplins will do the trick if you are technically minded, but I still depend on myself as i'd be heartbroken if Charlie got in again !

I we have an automatic openere, homemade with a solar panel (not yet fitted) to recharge the battery.

Total cost to make from odds and sods (OH an electronic engineer) was £4.50! Not including the solar panel he got for something else.
