    Pecking Wellies

    No not Wellie, my wellies

    Actually they are quite hard pecks. About 6 or 7 of the girls seem obsessed by it are they getting back at me for sommat or what

    Anyone else have this - is it normal???

      Yes, wellies or crocs, whichever I'm wearing in the run. Also jeans!! Beware in the summer though, DON'T go in the run in flip-flops They'll have your toes!

        Gawd, no shorts either not that it's ever warm enough.

        They even planted an egg outside of a nest box under a supporting chair strut under the door mock-up bench thingy, just so's I'd need to crawl under and they could all have a free for all while I was incapacitated. Was a bit worried for my bum

          Mine love my wellies, but then they are pink and got flowers on!

          They do like to peck at anything, one like to have a go at a dangly toggle on my coat, one even had a go at OH's BOTTOM in the summer (Thankfully covered up). he must have had a sparkly zip or button or something - he said it hurt too! lol

          Mine eye me up when I go in there looking for something to spook me with - I stillo don't like it when they flap at me! I normally have a handful of something to throw so they all run away and leave to me to go in and out in peace.

            Mine peck my wedding ring, and I have learnt not to bend over them with a necklace on.

              When my cousin was a little boy he had a lather large wart on his knee. A hen took a jump and pecked it off. End of wart.

                  Yes, mine peck at my Wellies too. They pecked at my socks when I only went in with my clogs on, and yesterday, I was bending over (sort of half squatting) talking to them, (as you do ) with my hands tucked between my legs, and one of them crept round and pecked my fingers from behind! Made me jump.

                  Considering how small they are, and how small their brains must be I'm surprised at how 'ballsy' they are. They hassle our Siamese cat, who's usually not afraid of anything, and one of them squared up to my Dad at the weekend, when he tried to shoo her away (very gently) with his foot, and he's got size 12 feet!

                    The girls have taken to running after me now - it's hysterical. Nightmare when mucking out the nags they're in the way constantly :rooleyes:

                          Yup - mine love my crocs - the little holes give them hours of amusment!

                          I was attaching theit little ramp on day, and they jumped on to my back and pecked my pants that were showing over the waistband of my jeans. Cheeky little beggers!!

                          They're all obsessed with rings, and they go wild for my glasses - come right up and peck at them...now THAT'S scary!!!

                            Mine aren't too bothered, but I sat down in a stable with about 100 rescue hens at the weekend and they went made for the little button things on my jeans pockets and the writing on my coat and my watch and my ring and........

                              But it's lovely when they come and "help" you when you're doing the mucking out isn't it Just get one patch cleared and they scrabble up the rest all over the cleared bit! Maybe it's the colour of the brush I use or something ......................... though having said that, they go for blue wellies, green wellies, black crocs, pink crocs, silver crocs - absolutely anything till they've had their cuddle then they buzz off
