  • New run - I'm SO excited!

I've just purchased a new run on ebay.
Before everyone goes yuk! (as I would in the past). I've weighed up the pros and cons regarding buying a ready made run.
Mr DDL and I work full time and dont have enough time at weekends to build the run I would like - 12' by 9' by 6'.....
Ive been looking on ebay for a while, OK, a couple of days, and there is a chap in Lancaster (just up the road) who does a pretty decent range of runs.
I've discussed the run I want with Mr DDL, because I need my greenhouse back pretty sharpish....and I've pressed the buy button...........
No I havent actually told him Ive done it, but Ive been saving up my pennies and have decided to buy what Ive always wanted!
Erm, those Grapes in favour, form an orderly queue behind me, the others go to Mr DDLs corner.................................
PS I'll let you know what happens when we, notice the ROYAL we, have to build it!!!!

That's what I like, another eBay addict - go for it!

I've just bought two cupboards for £30. As new. I certainly won't be telling the seller that I'm going to lay them on their side on the floor in the Chooks' Stable, and use them as nest-boxes!

I did that with two teak bedside cupboards - they are perfect in my lottie shed, the lady who sold them to me was so proud.....................

I need my greenhouse back for the summer too. Post a link to the seller Bernie so I can take a look?

Well, it was delivered at lunchtime today. I'm WELL impressed by the quality of the panels. I've creosoted 12 out of the 20, ran out of creosote - although it was already treated timber, thought it wouldnt do any harm. Fingers crossed the weather will be up to finishing it off and starting building tomorrow - so Ive told Mr DDL anyway! Methinks there will need to be a lot of grovelling on my part!.....................

                      12'x9'x6' CAT/DOG PEN/CATTERY/CHICKEN PEN/BIRD AVIARY on eBay (end time 03-Feb-10 09:17:10 GMT)

Looks nice Bernie...........but out of my price bracket I'm afraid.

I have heard on the grapevine that one of our plotholders at the allotments is jacking in and I happen to know he has a big stash of aviary mesh at the back of his plot which hopefully will be going begging for a small fee though!

Sounds good, both the wine and the fact you've ordered yours as well!

I know its expensive Snadger, but I've been saving up the loose change from my purse each day for months now. I decided to go the whole hog and buy the biggest I could afford. I'm well impressed by the quality of the panels. Right, more creosoting for me and then me and Mr DDL will be building later. (That's the plan anyway)

                        Photos to follow.

Mr DDL is insisting we do this proper. I hadnt realised how big the run will be, but now Im face to face with the bits..... Mr DDL says we must dig out the ground properly and then build up the run. Its going to take longer than I thought, but it will be done properly. News update next weekend when we get chance to do some more.

Worth doing it properly - then you only have to do it once!

Well, its officially up and running! Chookopolis has arrived. Mr DDL and I started at 0830 this morning and finished 1230. It was much easier to put up than I imagined.

All Mr DDL wants to do now is put a few more screws through the wood to doubly make sure its OK, and I want him to put up some pieces of that wiggly plastic stuff on the roof to keep out the rain, then that's it. (Jobs for tomorrow).

The girls are in and are busy scratting around enjoying themselves.

Photos tomorrow as I'm off for a very long soak in a hot bath to see if I can ease my back!
