  • Large Egg with Dried Blood

I'm worried about one of my girls and would appreciate any advice/views you folks may have on the subject.
When I went to collect the eggs today there were five as usual (we have five Blackrocks), however, one egg was much larger than usual, just under 3in long and almost 2in wide. It's on the left in the picture, the other two are the size they usually produce.
What worries me is that it had quite a lot of dried blood on it, I've checked all the girls and can find no sign of any problem with any of them. I'd hate to think one of them was distressed because I am missing something or should be doing something about it...hence this post.
As I said, your thoughts, advice or views would be very much appreciated.
    Brom.

Large eggs can often cause a little blood. There's nothing to worry about. Are they young chickens? They often are double yolkers when they are that large

Thanks Scarlet, you've put my mind at rest, I was a little worried for a while. The girls are about nine months old and have produced quite a few double yolkers but I'd never seen one that large. Looks like eggs for breakfast for me tomorrow...lovely.
