  • It's nearly finished!

My new run, set up is very nearly done.OH has been working hard when he has the time and energy-I've been very patient!-to build this for me. Really nice to get it looking a bit nicer and tidy the garden up so it does not look so much like a building site. What do you think?
Forgot to say, just need to do roof, then they are totally safe.

I have 5 hybrids. Two of them, a Skyline which is cream legbar based blue egg layer and a marans cuivre which will lay dark brown eggs are new girls and we are only just settling after three weeks. There's still the odd peck and the new girls run a mile when one of the others comes near, but it is definitely calmer. They are all in the new shed tonight. Just checked them, all present and correct1

thats looking good - how long did it take to put together - what did you use?
I have to build a new run for my hens (I only have two at the moment but will get more in May)and its going to be down on the plot which you cant see from the house - so it has to be really safe - we dont get foxes (I have only seen two in all the time we have been here) but people do let their dogs off the lead and the plot is not fenced.

Looking good so far LG. Well done to OH.
My OH is actually a carpenter/joiner by trade. Needless to say I end up trying to build my own

Thanks all. I have to admit it's bigger ,stronger than I had imagined but OH being in the trade it has to be a proper job.
It measures 3.5 metres on the right side as you look at the pics and 4 metres across the front and goes right back to where their new coop/shed is under the cover. Stands 6ft high. The posts are cemented into the ground and we just used treated timber and decking boards round the top. We've used a combination of weld mesh for the front walls where the strength is needed and chichen wire around the left wall next to the panels.
Just need to sort the roof and finishing touches and we're all done. It's so nice to know they are safe when I am not around.
