    Get under a broody cuckoo maran?

    Cookie is broody been turfing her out of the nest box all day and boy is she being nasty about it..

      Tee hee - she should cover 10 ok. You could try 12 if she is a good sized bird. My cuckoo maran is fairly small (for a Maran) so I don't think she would cover 12. Have fun!

          Yes, cream legbar eggs are small, not much bigger than my bantams. She should cover 12 of those with no problem.

            she will cover 12 no probs - my pekin hen will easily cover 8 so a maran 12 no probs - legbars are great!

              Oh God, I've sent CB out to clear up Henby and now she's moving Cookie in a nest box on a marble egg from Chookingham to Henby (should be interesting), got 5 hours to bite my nails on ebay.......

                  If you can spare a few real eggs she will like it better than a fake one. Mine don't like the fake ones much but sit tight on a few marked real eggs. You can then just chuck the marked eggs when it's time for the real eggs to go under.

                    I've been using the same 3 eggs to start my broodies, now up to no 5. They just get switched from hen to hen. By the time I've finished setting everyone they'll probably be hatching!!
