  • Help Betty unwell

Hi, can anyone help please Betty seems of colour, she is refusing to come out even when i free ranged them yesterday, she was out the dya before foraging around but she pooed yesterday and it was like water with a bit scrambled egg in it. She is eating ok her eyes are bright but i haxd to force her out of the coop this morning. Any ideas please.

Sounds like she might have just passed a shell-less egg - it always makes them a bit under the weather. If she's eating all right I would just leave her for a bit and see how she is by evening - chickens are easily stressed, so hassling her when she's feeling poorly won't help. If it makes you feel better, you could pop along to your vet (or well-stocked pet shop) and see if they can sell you a tub of AviPro Plus - it's a vitamin and probiotic supplement for stressed and convalescing animals. Costs about 7-8 quid, but a lot cheaper than a veterinary consultancy!

As Eyren said, it sounds as if she's laid a squashy, or she hasn't and it's broken inside and is coming away with her poo. Hope she picks up soon
