  • Got two new girls!

Well after trying everywhere to find some pure breeds have bought a Skyline and a Marans Cuvree from Thornes. Whole idea is to add different colour eggs so these two should fit that bill. They are really pretty birds and we're now going through the whole introducing thing. I have reread all the relevant posts and they are really useful. Will get some photos on tomorrow. Will have to be up at the crack of dawn to do the policing bit- my Bluebell is most definitely not impressed

Meet Nanny Ogg ,the maran cuvree and Esmeralda Weatherwax the Skyline, love them to bits already. Nanny Ogg is so placid, she's quite happy to be cuddled and admired!

The last one is Babs looking very cross from the other side of the temporary fencing!

No definitely a girlie, lays first of the three of them each day but she does look cross ,doesn't she? Funny thing is she's the placid one. Think it's only 'cos there's a fence there.
This introducing chooks is quite fraught, isn't it? I'm out in the garden so have decided to just let them mingle while I can watch. The sooner they sort themselves out the better. Is that going to be OK? The noises they are making this morning are hilarious- much to say,'What on earths going on, who do they think they are?'

Boy does she look cross- look at her foot gripping onto the netting- I swear I can see white knuckles there!!!!!

The others look lovely- I esp like Nanny Ogg- she has a lovely gentle face!

Is there such a thing as a Chicken Beauty Pagent? 'Cos I think Nanny Ogg would be in with a serious chance of carrying off all the prizes! Lovely looking bird!

Maybe we could start a "sticky" with pictures of our beauties (and the not-so-beautiful-but lovable-just-the-same)

A sort of "The Face Only a Mother Could Love" Award?

It's such a shame that my 'bash street mob' aren't so enamored. The two new girls haven't come out of the coop yet! Going to have to do some encouraging.
How much should you intervene? I'm sort of thinking they need to sort this out and the more I get in between them the longer it will take.Any thoughts?
On a plus, though, Granny Weatherwax produced a beautiful green egg at some stage overnight or early hours,
