  • do cockerels make chicken noises too??

i'm confused, do cocks make noises like girls do?? cos elvira/elvis was just in a flap over something and was running round the garden making chooky noises, like a proper chicken, i'm wondering (ok hoping) if maybe the strangled goose noises the other day were just erm i dunno getting her adult voice?? none of them have perfected it yet lol

We used to have a chicken that laid eggs and crowed regularly.

Hens often crow or otherwise make a fuss after they've laid an egg. They all make different noises, though - one of my pekin bantams makes honking noises like a tiny goose instead of clucking!

The difference should be obvious when they are a bit older. Cockerels have longer legs, bigger tail feathers, bigger combs, wattles under their beak - and then of course they behave differently

Before my girls became mums, the cockerels would call the gals over to eat a juicy worm or something....usually something to do with food.
Yup- they were similar ,but not the same.
Now my mums do lots of clucky sounds which they never used to!

                Difficult isn't it???
