  • Dirt bath!

Hi all - just thought I'd post a picture of my white 'Laydees' trying to make themselves the same colour as the brown ones. They did this for nearly half an hour! The pretty one is Ginger looking on disapprovingly.

I even caught my cockerel having a dust bath yesterday. He had dug himself a bloody great hole and was in that for nearly 1 hour!

Whatever it is...it's clearly enjoyed...and mine always seem to pick a sunny warm dry bit of earth.

Will someone please tell Attila the Hen that dust bathing and then walking up to me whilst I'm hanging the washing out and than shaking her dusty self over my white sheets is not big and it's not clever?

Great photo, our ladies had a great time trying to have a dust bath on a piece of old carpet under the landrover in the sunny bit of the garage, our next door neighbour couldn't believe her eyes, there were legs akimbo, heads under bums and much scratching and shoving until they nodded off.

It's a bit scary the first time you see them sprawling on the ground with one wing stretched out and their eyes half-shut, like they're having a fit - but you get used to it!
